Fall is on the horizon, and that means one thing at South of Shaw: Oktoberfest season! September is going to be a packed month with art, beer, food, and one of our biggest parties of the year.

ArtHop – Thursday, September 4

We’ll start the month with ArtHop, and our featured artist is Careen Wong. Careen’s superhero and comic-inspired art is bold, colorful, and full of energy—the perfect way to brighten up the taproom. Her work will be on display all month, and she’ll be here on ArtHop night selling pieces in person. If you love comics, pop culture, or just want to support a talented local artist, don’t miss it.

Oktoberfest Kickoff – Saturday, September 20

Then it’s time to raise a stein and shout Prost! Our Oktoberfest Kickoff Party happens on Saturday, September 20, and we’re pulling out all the stops.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Limited Edition Steins – These hand-made beauties are the real deal. Snag one, and you’ll get 20oz pours for the price of 16oz all Oktoberfest long!

  • Live Polka Band – Nothing sets the mood like oompah music. Get ready to clap, stomp, and dance along—lederhosen optional (but encouraged).

  • Steinholding Competition – Think you’ve got the strength and stamina to outlast the crowd? We’ll see how long you can keep that arm extended with a full stein in hand. Bragging rights are on the line!

  • Oktoberfest Pizza – To fuel the fun, our kitchen is rolling out a special pizza topped with sausage, onions, and Hagman BBQ’s signature mustard sauce. It’s rich, savory, and the perfect match for a cold pint.

  • The Beers – At the heart of it all: beer brewed just for the season. Our smooth, malty Oktoberfest Märzen and a crisp German Pilsner will be flowing fresh from our taps.

And for our members: you don’t have to wait. You’ll get the first taste of our Märzen starting September 1—a special sneak preview before the party kicks off.

So mark your calendars, grab your friends, and get ready for one of our favorite celebrations of the year. September is all about community, culture, and craft beer—and we can’t wait to raise a stein with you.

Prost! 🍻
